DOUBLE DEMERITS IN PLACE UNTIL THE END OF TUESDAY

Two Byron Bay drivers will face court after Operation ‘Go Slow’ swung into action across New South Wales.

In the first instance, police stopped a white Hyundai Getz that appeared to be exceeding the 50km/h speed limit on Bangalow Road, around 1:40am on Friday.

The 25-year-old male driver was found to be driving without a licence, and also recorded a breath analysis of 0.073.

The driver will appear in court in May.

Then around 9pm yesterday, a man had his licence suspended after he returned an alleged reading of 0.171 when he was also stopped along Bangalow Road.

The man, aged 40, will also appear in local court next month.

Operation ‘Go Slow’ is targeting speeding, mobile phone use, alcohol and drug-affected drivers, fatigue, and seatbelt use.

Double demerits will be enforced throughout the period that runs until 11.59pm on Tuesday.
