ILLEGAL DUMPING CATCHES UP WITH THORNTON MAN

A Thornton man faces a fine and has been ordered to pay clean-up costs, after he illegally dumped about 30 tonnes of building and demolition waste in the Hunter Valley earlier this year.

The waste was discovered by Hunter Economic Zone employees arriving for work at an industrial estate outside of Kurri Kurri in late February.

Investigations by the Illegal Dumping Squad, police, and the Roads and Maritime Service led to a 46-year-old Thornton man being interviewed over the dumping.

The man will be issued with a substantial fine, and is responsible for the clean-up costs involved.

The Hunter-Central Coast Regional Illegal Dumping Squad is a joint project between the EPA and local councils.
