ART EXHIBITION EXPLORES ABORIGINAL CULTURE

Aboriginal artists from around the Mid North Coast have come together for a new exhibition in Kempsey.

Titled ‘Five Women Connected and Seen’, it explores the Dunghutti, Biripai and Gumbaynggirr cultures.

“Each artist has their very own unique style, because they’ve had their own upbringing from different areas and different tribes and different customs,” Dunghutti-Ngaku Aboriginal Art Gallery Coordinator Jann Kesby said.

The five women will take turns at showcasing their artistic skills inside the gallery.

“It’s an opportunity for the community, the broader community to come to the Slim Dusty Centre and engage and talk with the artists while they’re working,” Ms Kesby said.

The exhibition runs until May 21.
