PARAMEDICS ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED WHILE ASSISTING WOMAN IN LABOUR
Two paramedics have been assaulted while assisting a woman going into labour near Lake Macquarie overnight.
Shortly before 2am this morning, paramedics responded to a call from a unit on Belstone Avenue in Belmont where a woman was going into labour.
Police say the woman’s 22-year-old male partner became aggressive, when she told him he could not accompany her in the ambulance.
The man then allegedly threatened both of the paramedics and assaulted one, before kicking the ambulance several times as it drove away.
It’s alleged the accused resisted arrest when police arrived.
The man has since been charged with a range of offences including assaulting police, resisting arrest, and hindering an ambulance officer by act of violence.
