HUNTER BRACES FOR WILD WEATHER

Hunter residents have also been told to brace for powerful surf, as well as destructive winds and heavy rain, as the remnants of Cyclone Debbie mix with a big cold front.

“The tropical moisture from ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie coming down from the north but up from the south a cold front and those two air masses meeting over the region. And that’s why we’ve seen the rain increase over the region this evening,” said NBN Weatherman Gavin Morris.

But NBN Weatherman Gavin Morris says the weekend may NOT be a washout, with the system to move off the coast quickly.

“But once it does move away we’re going to see the offshore winds and we’ll see coastal showers return but Saturday should be predominantly fine.”

Gav will have updated forecasts, throughout the bulletin.
