NEWCASTLE MAN CHARGED OVER 1980’S CHILD SEX OFFENCES

Two elderly men, including one from Newcastle, have been charged over alleged child sex offences committed in the 1980s

Police say that between 1980 and 1982, two men allegedly sexually assaulted at least two children at a pinball parlour on Parramatta Road in Homebush.

The alleged assaults included a boy aged 11 at the time.

Investigations led police to arrest an 82-year-old man in January.

He was charged with two counts of buggery and three counts of indecent assault with a male child.

Then in February, a 72-year-old man was also arrested at a hospital in Newcastle.

He was charged with seven counts of indecent assault with male child.

The 72-year-old was refused bail in a bedside hearing to appear in court in May.

Inquiries are continuing.
