MEREWETHER WOMEN HOLD ON TO WIN SURFTAG

Mixed news for Merewether at today’s National Surftag qualifying event. The men’s team cruised into the final, where they faced three teams from Sydney, including defending champions, North Narrabeen.

Merewether made a solid start through Jesse Adam, but the visitors soon found their feet.

In the end, North Avalon and North Steyne finished first and second, with the locals grabbing third.

Making their debut, the Merewether women won their semi, then faced a nervous wait in the decider.

North Narrabeen needed a decent score in the dying stages, but the home side hung on.
