A major retail shake-up and significant job losses are coming to Coffs Central shopping centre, with Big W and Best and Less closing, and K Mart moving in.
53 Big W staff were told on Wednesday the outlet will shut its doors on May 10.
Employees were reassured some may be offered work at the Big W at Park Beach Plaza or a local Woolworths supermarket, while full-time staff will be eligible for redundancies.
It’s believed Best and Less has about 20 staff on its books but it’s not known when it will close.
Big W has been in the City Centre for almost 31 years.
Meantime, a K-mart store has been earmarked to be added to the complex in the future.
