We’ve seen some big downpours produce more than 150mm around Mullumbimby overnight. That heavy pulse has surged south, hitting the mid north coast between Coffs Harbour and Dorrigo today. Sawtell received more than 170mm since 9am.
The heavy rain band will continue to move south tonight, with more to follow suit tomorrow.
So far the ground has absorbed most of the rain after such a dry season, but soon it will become saturated and the run off will begin, increasing the risk of flooding.
There’s plenty left in this current coastal rain event, which is set to go on until the weekend.
