HUNTERS MEN FOLLOW UP LOSS TO HORNSBY WITH WIN OVER MANLY

It’s been a mixed opening weekend for local mens teams in the Waratah Basketball League.

Maitland edged out Bankstown last night, while Newcastle lost to Hornsby, then beat Manly on the buzzer today.

The 2017 Hunters’ side features a host of new players, such as 17-year-old Jacob Foy, who racked up 18 points and seven rebounds.

Australian Goannas representative Lachlan Jackson had 11, but it was American import Dane Suttle who did the most damage.

He scored 28 points, including the final two, as Newcastle won 72 to 70.
