First grade basketball resumes on the Far North Coast this weekend, when round one of the 2017 Sunshine Conference gets underway.
This year’s regular season will span 12 weeks – up from 8 last year.
A women’s league has also been established – its matches will act as curtain-raisers.
“Women’s games will start at 4:30 on the Saturday evening, and men follow at 6:30.”
“We want to be able to watch the women play, and we hope the women will want to watch some of the men’s games as well.”
Runners-up Grafton host reigning premiers Byron Bay in the season opener this Saturday night.
Lismore Storm then play the Ballina Breakers, next week.
