  • Hospitality and retail and fast food workers will have their Sunday and public holiday penalty rates cut in a decision handed down by the Fair Work Commission. The landmark decision will see significant reductions in Sunday and public holidays across the industries, but not to Saturday levels.
  • A truck driver has escaped uninjured, after his semi-trailer burst into flames on the New England Highway, north of Bendemeer this morning.
  • Meantime a huge plume of black smoke billowed across Sydney this morning from a fire at a waste recycling centre at Chullora in the city’s west.
  • NASA has revealed it’s found seven new ‘Earth-sized planets, circling a nearby star, which could sustain life. The space agency says finding a second Earth is not a matter of if, but when.
  • We’ve been given an incredible look inside the wardrobe of Princess Diana – with some of her most captivating gowns about to go on show in an exhibition at Kensington Palace.
  • And the late David Bowie has been honoured at the Brit awards in London. The star-studded event included performances from Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Coldplay’s Chris Martin who sung a duet with the late George Michael. Robbie Williams took out the icon award.
