Police have swooped on a number of north coast properties, seizing more than 70 illegal weapons including knuckle dusters, machetes and stun guns.

An associate of the Lismore chapter of the Lone Wolf Motorcycle Gang was today arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged importation of prohibited weapons.

About 7.30am police raided units on Casino Street in South Lismore and Marlyn Avenue in East Lismore.

Searches were also carried out at eight properties at South Lismore, Gundarimba, Caniaba, Alstonville, Rous Mill, Bungawalbin, Georgica, and Woodburn.

During the raids, police allegedly 74 illegal weapons including knuckle dusters, machetes, replica firearms, electronic stun guns, handcuffs, throwing stars, whips containing blades, and credit card knives.

“The investigation highlights how important it is for us to co-operate with other law enforcement agencies, such as the Australian Federal Police to ensure we can find those responsible and put them before the court,” Richmond Acting Inspector Bernadette Ingram said.
