ONE KILLED AND ANOTHER AIRLIFTED AFTER M1 COLISSION

A woman has died and a man has been trapped in his vehicle for more than an hour after a two-vehicle crash on the M1 near Ourimbah this morning.

Just before 4:30, a car was seen travelling north on the M1, when it collided with another vehicle, which was heading south.

The female driver in the northbound vehicle died at the scene.

A 40-year-old male driver of the southbound vehicle was trapped for more than an hour before he was released and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with a broken leg.

Police are asking any witnesses of the incident to come forward.
