TAREE SKIER MAKES A SPLASH AT OCEANIA TITLES

A barefoot water-skiing prodigy from Taree has finished second overall at the 2017 Asia Oceania Championships, in New Zealand.

Despite challenging conditions, 15-year-old Makayla Cornall snagged five medals, including gold in the trick and jump events.

“The first couple of days the water was pretty rough so we had to battle with that and that’s when I didn’t go too well and fell a fair few times but other than that it was good,” Makayla said.

She was also named Junior Girls Athlete of the Year, by the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation.
