Giant Atlantic pumpkin growers are getting ready to haul their monster fruits to the North Lismore showground next Saturday, for the annual Summerland Giant Pumpkin Competition.
One entry is already on display at Farmer Charlie’s in Lismore, with shoppers encouraged to guess the weight.
Competition pumpkins can reach more than 600 kilograms, with the largest ever entrant weighing in at 743 kilograms.
“We’ve got giant pumpkins and giant watermelons and it’s going to be a bit of an eye-opener for people who haven’t seen a anything like that”
Organisers are hoping to see the event blossom, by holding it in Lismore for the first time.
