SAFETY MAKEOVER FOR NOTORIOUS STRETCH OF ROAD

The notorious Great North Road at Laguna, near Cessnock, has undergone urgent safety work.

Worth close to a million dollars, the upgrade includes widening, re-surfacing, the realignment of two curves, and the installation of a guardrail.

The stretch of road has claimed the lives of several motorbike riders.

The funding came from the federal government’s blackspot program.
