EAST END RESIDENTS CONCERNED OVER SUPERCARS

Residents in Newcastle’s East End claim there will be little to no economic benefit from next year’s Supercar street race through the city.
They say they’ve been left out of the planning process, despite being the most affected.

  1. This small group of residents don’t even want to listen to what Supercars or Council have to say especially the lady being interviewed, Maria Charlton, I have been to the meetings and it’s all about me attitude and not what Newcastle can benefit as a whole.

  2. So sick of hearing all these whingers in Newcastle. Get over it and soak up what an event like this can bring to the region!

  3. Seems these days the minority have the majority of the voice, please don’t let this be another example. I’d gladly have these machines race past my front door.

  4. As if that’s going to happen Newcastle is the nanny town in NSW the nanny state where everything is watered down so it doesn’t offend any one Newcastle has become so boring the best thing that happened was a ship being washed up on the beach.

  5. Bring it to Cessnock the whole town has embraced th posty bike gp it would be great for our region

  6. Great event for Newcastle, council really is doing things backwards. Now I am for the event but I have empathy for the residents. Imagine your street, will be for 10 weeks….that’s almost 3 months of disruptions and that’s not counting possibly delays, being unable to access your home with your car for at least one week every year for 5 years minimum. Would you want that? I think not. Then its the crowds and rubbish left behind and the noise. Its all well and good to say its for greater Newcastle, one off event yes, but for a minimum of 5 years ……don’t think I would be to rapped if it was my street. But I do support the event I am a V8 fan but I do see their point of view.

  7. lmfao “no economic benefit” yeah totally agree, cause it’s not like Lithgow, Bathurst and Orange hell even Dubbo gets some kind of boost in sales from fuel, food and misc commerce… nah

  8. If the Council is so interested in Supercars they should spend their taxpayers money on a proper full time circuit that can be used 365 days a year not 1 weekend. The benefits are then long term and the affected locals wont have anything to worry about. Long term vision is whats needed not a short term fix.

  9. Why does NBN focus on these negative idiots and start talking to the majority of people that are so enthusiastic about this coming to our area

  10. “…go ahead, desicrate our heritage area” how about.. go ahead and create jobs, go ahead and show the world how hospitable our beautiful city is… how about pull your heads in and let something of a short term disruption bring the city to life,.. how about opening the city to a family friendly event that will boost local economy like nothing you’ve ever seen before…. how about opening up a house swap program…. come live out in the burbs and I’ll come look after your heritage listed home for a couple of weeks.. or take a holiday and rent yr place out and make enough money to pay for your next holiday! … or… how about just copping the inconvenience sweet,.. leave the planning to the professionals and then do an interview after it’s over .. eating your negativity and telling the world how lucky we are to live in a progressive, clean, beautiful part of the world that’s open to different sports, cultures, pastimes, and providing a future for a community that deserves it! …..
Or not. … i bet you choose, not. ?
