Kyogle Mayor Danielle Mulholland will lead the Northern Rivers Regional Organisation of Councils for the next three years.
Councillor Mulholland was elected president, defeating Ballina Mayor David Wright, when the group met earlier this week.
Byron Shire Mayor Simon Richardson was elected deputy president unopposed.
Mulholland replaces former Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell, who retired from local government at this year’s election.
