RACE IS ON FOR THE KINGS OF THE RIVER

The splash of paddles and the beating of drums will resonate across the mighty Clarence River this weekend when Grafton hosts its annual Jacaranda Dragon Boat Races.

The largest event of its type in regional New South Wales, the regatta is expected to draw more than 30 teams.

On Saturday afternoon sporting teams will contest the seven kilometre Peanut Island paddle.

While on Sunday morning community groups will join in for the 200 metre sprints, culminating in one crew being crowned the Kings of the River.
