CALISIVIRUS K-5 TO BE SPREAD ACROSS THE NEW ENGLAND
A new strain of the Calisivirus will be introduced across Australia to combat wild rabbit populations.
In the New England, 71 sites will take part, with residents in Glen Innes being among the first.
“If we didn’t get rid of rabbits, the whole productivity of this area would be descimated, it’s one of the greatest scurges of this area. We have to continually work to get further biological controls out to deal with this problem.”
Other locations in the roll-out include Armidale, Glencoe, Inverell, Uralla and Tamworth.
