A woman has been taken to hospital after being held at knife point in a Southport residence over night.
Police were called to the Cotlew Street house at 9:30pm following claims a 61 year old women was being held by another woman wielding a knife.
An emergency response was set up by Southport police who worked through the night to resolve the situation.
Specialist police entered the house at 4am on Friday to detain the 17 year old woman in possesion of the knife. She was questioned and will face Southport Magistrates Court this afternoon.
The older woman is now safe and being treated for minor injuries.
