MATILDAS BEGIN FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR RIO OLYMPICS

The Hunter’s Emily van Egmond and her Matildas teammates have begun final preparations for their opening game at the Rio Olympics.
The Aussies have left their training base in Fortaleza, bound for São Paulo, where they’ll face Canada on August 4.
“I think they’re going to be quite physical, dangerous off set pieces, they have key players to look out for. It’s going to be a challenge but one the girls are definitely up for.”
Despite a 3-1 loss to Brazil on Sunday, gold is still the goal for our girls.
“I think we have the potential and talent to medal. The most important thing is to focus on what lies ahead with the group games and Canada up first is a big task for us.”
