LAWYERS INVESTIGATE DREAMWORLD RESPONSE TIME AFTER MAN’S FALL FROM LOG RIDE ON GOLD COAST.

Lawyers for the man who nearly drowned after falling from the log ride at Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld are urgently calling for witnesses to come forward.

Samson Sherrin, 19, was left with hip and foot fractures, neck and head injuries after he fell from the ride on April 17 and lawyers claim he was left in the water while logs passed over the top of him.

Sugath Wijedoru of Littles Lawyers told the Gold Coast Bulletin they were investigating “an issue in relation to the timeliness of Dreamworld staff coming to his assistance.”

Mr Sherrin was also left with lacerations to his entire body and had his clothing ripped off, coupled with severe psychiatric injuries.

It is believed his friends asked staff to stop the ride when it wasn’t immediately halted after his fall from the carriage.

Mr Sherrin was eventually treated by Dreamworld medical staff before paramedics arrived.

Dreamworld chief executive Craig Davidson indicated it was the first incident of its kind in the ride’s 35-year history.

“Guest safety has always been and remains Dreamworld’s number one priority,” he said.

“Our strict processes and procedures were followed at all times both during the incident and throughout the investigation.,”

WorkSafe Queensland investigated the incident at the time, and subsequently gave the ride the all-clear the next day. No action was taken toward the theme park.

Mr Wijedoru did not indicate whether the parties would sue Dreamworld over the incident.
