MAN’S EAR SEVERED IN GOLD COAST CRANE CRASH

Police say a tyre blowout is to blame for a crane that rolled and tipped near the Gold Coast.

Two men were injured when the mobile crane lost control and crashed through a fence at Pimpama yesterday morning.

The 57-year-old driver’s ear was severed during the ordeal after he became trapped in the cabin.

His 44-year-old passenger – who was thrown from the vehicle – suffered pelvis, shoulder and neck injuries.

The pair were taken to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

A police spokeswoman told 9NEWS it was hoped the driver’s ear could be reattached.
