MILESTONE REACHED FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH STUDY
A nationwide survey of women’s health has reached a milestone.
Today, researchers from the University of Newcastle and Queensland celebrated two decades of what’s known as the Australian Longitudinal Study.
“It’s been a real honour to be able to work on one project for 20 years and have it the defining part of your career it’s wonderful,” said study co-director Professor Julie Byles.
Researchers collect vital data on factors from mental health to weight – in a study that now involves more than 58,000 women.
“We have a direct link back to the government to say this is what we found and then they are able to put that back into their policy responses.”

I am very honoured to have taken part in this survey over the past twenty years and hope that my contribution will help the generations of women to come yet.
