CRUISE SHIP CANCELS AMID ANTI-COAL PROTESTS IN NEWCASTLE

Tourism operators say the region has lost a quarter of a million dollar injection after a cruise ship cancelled its visit to Newcastle.

The Insignia has pulled the pin because of a climate change protest, organised for next Sunday.

Well done protestors. $500,000 in revenue and huge amounts of goodwill lost as one of the worlds most prestigious cruise lines cancels its visits, leaving most of the passengers with unusable shore excursions throughout the Hunter. And you can bet it’ll be a long time before Oceania Cruises considers Newcastle as a stopover again.

  2. Shame on the protesters ! All the extra business that would stayed in Newcastle has now gone and nothing will have been achieved by the protesters apart from more Bad feelings against them, wake up Newcastle cat survive without extra business !

  3. Well I hope they aren’t going to be paddling out in any of those plastic kayaks which come from those petrochemical plants who use coal as a major input.
