HUNTER VALLEY STEAMFEST DRAWS MASSIVE CROWDS

In what’s believed to be a world first, four steam trains took on four tigermoth planes today, in a race for supremacy between Waratah and Maitland.

It was all part of Steamfest’s 30th anniversary.

    Well done Maitland Events. The only down sides was the lack of shade near the eating area – but then it is a big area under development, so we’ll let it slide this year. The other was no pedestrian traffic management over Maitland Station footbridge, which ground to a complete halt with people wanting to go in both directions at the end of the great train race, and neither direction succeeding. Probably never expected that many people I would assume. Watching human-nature in action was rivetting, with the impatient people pushing forward in any little gap just making the situation worse. Well done to the many others that were patient and understanding in the face of the heat and congestion.

  3. Sorry I wasn’t there for this event I was on a train going to Moree and saw a little that was happening when the CountryLink pulled into Maitland I’ll be there next time to see it all happening, congratulations to every one involved with a great event
