POLICE SEIZE STOLEN PROPERTY AFTER ARRESTS RELATING TO THEFTS FROM VEHICLES

Two women have been charged over a string of offences relating to thefts from a number of vehicles across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie over the last fortnight.

On Tuesday, investigations led police to arrest a 35-year-old woman in relation to the offences. She was charged with five counts of goods in custody, and 15 counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception.

Yesterday, police attended properties in Windale, where they seized numerous items believed to have been stolen from motor vehicles, including wallets and purses, personal papers, credit cards, clothing and electronic devices.

The seized items are believed to have been stolen from Adamstown Heights, Cardiff, Warners Bay, Belmont, Mount Hutton, Charlestown and Garden Suburb.

A second woman, aged 33, was arrested. She was later charged with larceny, dishonestly obtaining property by deception, and goods in custody.

Police are now appealing for victims of recent property thefts from motor vehicles to come forward, after much of the stolen property was recovered.

Both women were refused bail.
