CALLS TO REOPEN FORMER NEWCASTLE BOWLING CLUB SITE

Community Group, Friends of King Edward Park is calling for the state government to remove the fencing around the old Newcastle Bowling Club site, and re-open it to the public.

It comes more than six months after the Land and Environment Court ruled the site could not be used for anything other than public recreation.

Despite the decision, the fence has remained.

The community group is also supporting a motion by Greens member David Shoebridge, to launch an enquiry into the management of Crown Lands in NSW.
