BLACK HAWKS IN THE HUNTER AND CENTRAL COAST
Up to five Black Hawk helicopters will be flying across the Hunter and Central Coast over the next week, as part of a defence training exercise.
The exercise aims to ensure pilots and aircrew are capable of flying in all conditions across urban and rural settings.
It’s the first time in two years this type of training has been conducted in the Hunter.
“Our aircrew value the training outcomes they can achieve through this exercise series and it’s important for their ongoing proficiency,” said Major Luke Parnell.
The aircraft will be flying over various locations including Gosford, Newcastle and Singleton, with training scheduled throughout the afternoons and evenings.
The Department of Defence says while some noise is unavoidable, it will be mindful to minimise disruptions.
The Black Hawk is a multi-role helicopter that provides air mobility for troops and equipment in the battle zone.
It can also carry out aerial reconnaissance, observation and casualty evacuation.
