LOCATION OF GOSFORD TAX OFFICE BUILDING REVEALED

It’s been one of the best kept secrets on the Central Coast, and today the Federal Government finally revealed the location of the proposed Tax Office building.

The Treasurer joined the local member Lucy Wicks, outside the Old Gosford Public School site, where construction on a new four storey building will start mid-next year.

  1. If that is the plan for the ATO building, it is as ugly and 1980s style as the Leagues Club, so it will blend in well. This building has no business being built on the old school site, only demolished with the proviso the land is to be used as a cultural precinct helping join the CBD and the waterfront. This building turns its back on the waterfront and creates a longer full stop to the CBD, effectively cutting off the proposed flow-through. Also the tender process has been secretive, and quite possibly corrupt, with the tender winners allegedly earlier paying $10,000 into Liberal party election coffers. The main point is the ATO would be far better housed either in MarketTown or any of the many vacant developments already in the CBD, not in an eyesore leased to them for $7 million a year over 10 years.
