WEATHER: ICY START TO THE DAY

Armidale dropped to -7 degrees this morning and the ice on the wind screen formed far and wide, including in suburbs around Newcastle which is quite rare.

Melbourne is on track to record its coldest July in about 17 years and that is a good reflection of how chilly things have been across the south east corner of the nation.

Expect another cold night with frosts, but overall things will be milder, as the southerly winds start to push in an isolated shower or two along the coast.
