MEDICAL CANNABIS TRIAL ANNOUNCED IN NEWCASTLE

Newcastle has been chosen to host Australia’s first-ever medical cannabis trial for terminally ill adults.

The New South Wales Premier made the announcement today, while paying tribute to the man who helped inspire the government’s committment – late Tamworth campaigner, Dan Haslam.

  1. Next yr is the 20th anniversary of medical cannabis in California and 23 US states have followed and 5 of them have fully legalized. At no stage has there been any disaster. That is why the reforms continued.
    And there is no evidence to suggest that such reforms would play out any differently in Australia.
    It is time for Australian authorities to get over their extreme cannaphobia.
    People are suffering without their medication and people are suffering needless arrests and prosecutions that destroy their employment and life opportunities.
    The drug war is a disastrous failure.
    Time to end the failed drug war.

  2. Well said. Useless trials for what? 0 deaths from this plant tells us it’s safe. Prohibition has never worked and never will! We should have the freedom to make our own choice.

  4. The study will look at how cannabis can potentially alleviate symptoms in terminally ill patients including fatigue, loss of appetite and insomnia. Newcastle University’s Professor Jennifer Martin said the trial is all about finding a balance.
