The Newcastle Unity in Diversity Festival is on today in celebration of diverse cultures across the Hunter.
The activities will begin with a walk from Newcastle Museum to Civic Park from 11am.
Upon arrival to Civic Park, an Awabakal Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country will open the family festival.
Following that, Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes will deliver a cultural diversity speech.
An array of activties will be open to the public, including an African Drumming workshop, Belly Dancers, live music, stalls, food, children’s activities, face-painting and more.
The event is produced by the Refugee Action Network Newcastle, to coincide with National Refugee week.
